"I first encountered Maki in 2010, as she was honing her craft at the prestigious Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, specializing in the delicate art of Gong Bi. From the moment I laid eyes on her paintings, I was enamored by their beauty.
Her works invite us to take a moment to bask in the world's loveliness, to forget about the distractions and instead, savor the beauty through our eyes and hearts. The characters in her paintings seem reserved, yet unbridled; steadfast, yet effortless. Could these traits reflect Maki's own spirit?
As her curator and collaborator, I had the privilege of showcasing her paintings in Hong Kong in 2011, and since then, I've been promoting her works at art fairs across Europe, where she's earned widespread recognition.
This year, Maki and I embarked on a new journey, hand in hand, delving into the world of art merchandise. It has always been Maki's dream to bring her works into the lives of those who appreciate imagination, creativity, and adventure. As Maki would say, "It's just a small step forward."
